J. Isham

I began my endeavors in 1976 with a bachelors degree in history from UCLA. History, meaning "investigate" in Greek, taught me the connection between the past and how it affects the present. In 1996 I graduated from Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino with a Masters Degree in Marital and Family Therapy. I have since had 10 years experience in the field of child welfare working with children and families. I also work in private practice with various ages of people seeking help and change. I assist in the re-negotiation of current relationships and in the grieving of relationships, whether it is through divorce or death.

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I act as a co-investigator with my clients, helping them to take only what they need from their past to make changes in their current experiences. I introduce the healing power of spirituality to my clients and encourage them to look to a higher entity, whatever it may be for them, and utilize that power in their road to recovery. I believe that the heart of change is through spiritual growth, which modifies current thinking and leads to more positive and constructive behavior. The clients acceptance in allowing a more spiritual way of thinking creates an optimistic mood, shaping better decisions and creating a domino effect for a better life altogether.

Being a therapist isn't just a job to me. I believe that although my training has provided me with the proper direction and knowledge I need to aid people in need, my life experiences and my commonality as a human being provide a much better understanding of their struggles.

Please feel free to call me at 805-583-3976 x 45 so that I can answer any questions you may have, or to set an appointment.
